This week in school…In phonics we reviewed the FLOSS rule. In reading we read compared fiction and nonfiction with rabbits being the main subject. In writing we worked on our narrative writing with realistic fiction. In math we worked on missing addend/subtrahend and word problems. In social studies we started learning about George Washington Carver.

Coming up in the classroom for the week of April 18th …
Phonics: Review -ck, we will not have a spelling test this week due to field day
Reading: work on comprehension, sequencing, cause and effect
Writing: Narrative Writing ~ writing realistic fiction stories
Math: addition/subtraction double digit, word problems
Social Studies: George Washington Carver
Homework: Freckle, Seesaw activity and reading passage (attached and hard copy in child’s yellow folder)

Upcoming School Wide…
April 20th ~ in house field trip: Brien Engel, glass harpist
April 21st ~ Scoville Hot Chicken Spirit Night 5 – 9 pm
April 22nd ~ Field Day ~ bring a change of clothes because there will be water activities
April 22nd ~ End of 4 ½ weeks (I can’t believe it)
April 29th ~ 4th Nine Weeks Progress Report Goes Home

This week in school…In phonics we worked with vowel team ee sound. In reading we read compared text.   In writing we worked on our narrative writing with realistic fiction. In math we worked on strategies for adding 3 numbers and word problems.  In social studies we started out unit on Ruby Bridges and learned about how brave she was when she was in first grade.   We wrapped up the end of the week with hockey game and a Humpy Dumpty STEM project.

Homework:  Freckle, Seesaw activities and reading passage will not come home until the Monday we return from Spring Break. 😊
