Thank you to Mrs. Blank for coming in on Monday and sharing some of her favorite books.

In reading we compared and contrasted text with Dr. Seuss’ books the focus of this week’s lessons, in additions to working in small reading groups and completing centers. We also worked on retelling with details, identifying who is telling the story and explaining how we know. We read different Dr. Seuss books thought out the week. With Monday being Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day, students had the opportunity to hear The Sneetches. And, they were able to participate in some themed rhyming activities where they could create words and original creatures, inspired by Dr. Seuss.

In writing we worked on writing a letter to persuade.  Your child brought home their letter today.  Your reply is due Tuesday, March 10th.

In Math, students practiced place value, double digit adding and subtracting, 10 more and 10 less. They also worked very hard on word problems.

Science: We completed our research books on our animals. Next week, students will pick another animal and we will do research and make a SWAY presentation.

It’s hard to believe that we will finish our 3rd Nine Weeks of school on Friday, March 13th.
