Week of January 10th

Our first full week back.  This week we have read different Jan Brett books.  We have compared them.  We also have worked on characters, setting, problems, solutions, cause and effect.   In phonics we worked on ow and oe.  We started our opinion writing unit.  We started off with just talking about facts and opinions. We talked about introducing your opinion, stating a reason for that opinion and providing a detail to support the reason.   In math we worked on comparison word problems. We will continue to work on this skill.  Another thing introduced in math was 10 more/10 less.   In social studies we introduced Lewis and Clark but took a break to go over continents and oceans.
